DETAILS
A rare and beautifully preserved example of late ‘60s Gibson craftsmanship, this 1967 Gibson Melody Maker comes finished in the highly sought-after and now beautifully aged Pelham Blue – a colour that has gracefully worn into a vintage greenish-teal hue, as these originals so often do.
This lightweight, resonant guitar is all about simplicity, tone, and that unmistakable vintage Gibson feel. It features original single-coil pickups, delivering the raw, articulate, and punchy tone that Melody Makers are revered for – perfect for garage rock, blues, and beyond.
It’s in great overall condition for its age, with no neck breaks or structural damage – something that’s becoming increasingly rare for instruments of this era. It comes with a period-correct hard case, likely original, and protects the guitar well.
A few parts have been sympathetically updated:
- Machine heads have been replaced with a like-for-like vintage-style Kluson set - it is visible on the front of the front of the headstock with gaps around the ferrels. See photos.
- The vibrola arm and bridge plate are non-original, but visually and functionally appropriate
This is a genuine piece of Gibson history, with just the right amount of honest play wear and patina. It plays wonderfully, sounds killer, and looks every bit as cool as you'd hope a '60s Pelham Blue Gibson would.
